The purpose of the event is to update you on the Tees Valley collaborative work to expandhigher and degree apprenticeships in the Tees Valley, for the benefit of both businesses and deliverers. As well as an update on the apprenticeship agenda, information on higher and degree apprenticeships and an input from an employer's perspective, the event will also touch on the apprenticeship levy.
On the 25th November, the Government confirmed in its Autumn Statement that it will introduce an apprenticeship levy in April 2017.
Characterised by both the CBI employers' group and the Institute of Directors as little more than a 'PAYROLL TAX', businesses will be charged 0.5% of their wage bill in order to generate funds (estimated £3 billion by 2019-20) to pay for apprenticeship training across the UK.
At the same time, the nature and scope of Apprenticeship training is being redrawn with new employer- designed Apprenticeship Standards in development and/or being implemented, ranging from Leadership & Management, Business Administration & Law (including Accounting), Engineering & Manufacturing, Construction, Health & Care, Information & Communication Technology, Education & Training, Creative & Digital and Science to mention but a few. In addition, the Government has signalled a determination to drive up the adoption of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships.
The event is designed to enable you to plan your training and development accordingly and maximise the opportunities that are available under the new system.
